We've all heard at one time or another to drink more water. Here's why. If you drink plenty of water before the massage the muscles are well hydrated and are easier to work on. You get more done during the massage and stave off the dehydration effects of manipulating muscles. How much should I drink before a massage? I would recommend being hydrated an hour before your massage so you don't have to go while you are on the table. Drinking one to two 16 oz glasses of water should do the trick.
Once you massage is finished keeping a bottle of water on hand throughout the day will help stave off muscle soreness. I would recommend four to six 16 oz. glasses of water. The good news is any extra water you do drink will be automatically eliminated by your body. Stay healthy, drink water!
